Thanks for the links, I have a hard time tracking down the various catalogs and have been poaching them from other sites regularly. I know I want the third Kalix book from Martin Millar, and I am pretty sure Chris Wooding’s Iron Jackal finally comes to the US next year, but other than that I am not real up to date on new titles.

I’m trying to find some more publisher catalogs. SFSignal also does a forthcoming cover gallery every so often, it’s beyond drool worthy!

I’m looking forward to Words of Radiance, the James S.A. Corey Star Wars book that comes out in March, the new Eddie LaCrosse by Bledsoe, John Scalzi’s new book. And I have no doubt there will be a bunch of exciting books that I’m not yet aware of that will strike my fancy…and take my money.

James S A Corey is doing a Star Wars book? that’s awesome! I’m looking forward to the next Expanse novel, but I don’t know when it’s scheduled to come out. I really need to make more time to read more Bledsoe, I’ve only read 1 novel by him and a bunch of his short fiction, and all of it has been excellent.

I’m two books behind already in the Eddie LaCrosse series, so need to get caught up.

Yes, the Star Wars book comes out in March and is like the Martha Wells one I recently reviewed in that it is set during the time of the original trilogy. I believe it is called Honor Among Thieves.

I started Eddie LaCrosse with Book 4, and I’m trying to decide whether to jump right in with Book 5 or start from the beginning and catch up first.

I am looking forward to Words of Radiance and the fourth book in James S.A. Corey’s series. Jo Walton has two new books out in 2014. There is a new Alan Bradley in January and a new Sarah Addison Allen. Oh, and I started Libba Bray’s new historical fantasy series and am looking forward to book 2. Then there is always comics and other books I am not thinking about at the moment. 🙂

i can’t wait for that one!! The new Gillian Philip will be out hopefully in the spring, even though it’s been out in the UK for a while.

For books, the only title that comes to mind is Seekers, the new Star Trek series written by David Mack and others, which starts in August. In a homage to the old school Trek novelizations, they have numbers not titles. Comics wise, all I can think of are two DC things: they’re finally releasing a second Jonah Hex showcase in March and, around the same time, I think, are releasing a collection of all the supernatural Jonah Hex stories called Weird Western (I think).

Like

I have a few of the old Star Trek novelizations, I’m curious about this new series. Will it be in the style of the original series?

If you like Jonah Hex and weird west stuff, there’s an Weird West anthology coming out in the spring, Dead Man’s Hand that you might be interested in.

Okay did NOT mean to reply so late! Well Vanguard, from what I know, at least starts in the TOS era so its possible. And that anthology sounds mighty interesting!

So far I think Word of Radiance is the only book I know of that arriving next year. But plenty new authors to discover, I really like to dive into these lists!

Like

Everyone seems really excited about Word of Radiance, I really need to read more Brandon Sanderson, see what all the fuss is about!

As an twisty plotmaker and designer of interesting magic systems, I have yet to se his equal. His prose has improved since his ghost writing Robert Jordan (he appropiate pun there eh..). It is still not an par with the best so he remains on my B list, but heads it with at least one dragons length…

I haven’t paid too much attention to 2014 titles yet, but hands down the one I’m most excited about is Lynn Flewelling’s Shards of Time. Cannot wait.

Like

I didn’t know Flewelling had a new book coming out! Great news!! 😀

Like

It’s going to be the last Nightrunner book (supposedly), which makes me quite sad as it’s my favorite series, but any year with a new Lynn Flewelling book is a good one.:)

Jim Butcher has a forthcoming Harry Dresden book – Skin Game. Of course, I am really looking forward to Brandon Sanderson’s Words of Radiance. I have my fingers crossed there will be a new Saladin Ahmed book in 2014.

Like

I SO want a new Saladin Ahmed book!!! WANT! think it would help if I offered to take him out for dinner the next time I’m out in the Detroit metro area?

Like

haha! couldn’t hurt….unless you pick a nasty diner with disgruntled employees that have hygiene issues. Choose wisely!

nah, that part of the state has some insanely good restaurants. And some excellent microbreweries!

Oh, so many. I heard a rumour that the next Scott Lynch will be out late next year. Did you hear that???
Really looking forward to the last Jasper Kent – can’t wait to see how he finishes this off.
Also, I think Robert Bennett has a new book expected.
Douglas Hulick has his second Kin book out – Sworn in Steel.
Let’s not forget Gillian Philip!!
And, well, quite a few others! How long do you got!
Lynn 😀

I’ve heard that Scott Lynch rumor from everyone except Scott Lynch himself. I got burned a few times on release dates for Republic of Thieves, so I’m leery of info that doesn’t come from the source. And he’d announce it on his website or twitter, right??

mmm…. Jasper Kent. that guy single handedly got me back into vampire fiction. I am very excited for more books from him!

and you know I’ll read anything that’s got Robert Jackson Bennett’s name on it. that man writes pure gold.

Looking forward to the new Joe Haldeman. Centipede Press is starting to publish the first volumes in the Collected R.A. Lafferty. Jeff Vandermeer has a new trilogy starting in the spring. Also the 3rd book in the Everness series by Ian McDonald.

Like

Yes yes! new Vandermeer! he’s one of my favorite writers, I’m always excited for new works from him. His brand of creepy is just delicious to me.

“Radiance – Catherynne M. Valente (Back to adult novels!)”

This is the best news I’ve heard all day!!! The Fairlyland books are fun and cute and all, but holy cow is her adult stuff a-freakin-mazing. Her Prester John books were absolutely life changing for me, and loved Deathless so so, so very much.

I’m very happy to hear Ken Liu is working on a novel as well, he’s one of my favorite short story writers.

Forgot to add that I usually rely on Locus for my list of forthcoming books

ooh, thank you for the Locus link, I’ve added it up above in the original post! I always forget about Locus, and this is a bad, bad thing.

Great to hear Tobias Buckell has a new one coming out. Arctic Rising didn’t click with me the first time through, but I think I could really get into it again on a reread, especially knowing there is more to the story.

some of the books reviewed here were free ARCs supplied by publishers/authors/other groups. Some of the books here I got from the library. the rest I *gasp!* actually paid for. I'll do my best to let you know what's what.
