Jemisin.  this book has been on my radar since it came out, and it just never made it to the top of my mount TBR.  Thankfully Susan over at Dab of Darkness insisted that this be my next read along novel. THANK YOU SUSAN!!!!

Interested in joining?  Here’s the schedule and the who’s who:

Chapters 1-9, 106 pages Dab of Darkness, post goes up Dec. 2nd
Chapters 10-16, 100 pages On Starships & Dragonwings, post goes up Dec. 9th
Chapters 17-22, 96 pages Little Red Reviewer post goes up Dec. 16th
Chapters 23-End, 96 pages Violin in a Void, post goes up Dec. 23rd

Wanna read along and get discussion questions early?  Let me know in the comments.😀

I don’t know that I can commit to read along, but I DO want to read this book SOON. I’ve had it on the bookshelf for-ev-er.

i’m been meaning to read this book forever too. I started it at breakfast this morning, was immediatly hooked! I’ll add you to the read along mailing list, and if you aren’t able to get to the book this time around, don’t even worry about it.🙂

I have had this one on my shelf for a while now…and it might be good to cross it off. I will do my best to participate.

Yay! and read alongs are totally mellow. Need to do two weeks of discussion in one post? no problem. only have the opportunity to do the first post and the last post? no problem. 😀

I wish! I just got The Killing Moon, which is the only Jemisin book in my local library. I’m looking forward to reading it!

Like

is Killing Moon part of this series, or a stand alone (I am completely embarrassed at my ignorance of her work!)? If your library doesn’t already own a copy of Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, this would be the perfect reason to add it to their purchase request list. 🙂

This is a GREAT book – I think you’ll really enjoy it!

i started it this morning, was hooked by . . . oh, about page three.😀

Gaaaaah! I have been wanting to read that for forever, and I have also wanted to try out an online read-a-long for forever. But I am on vacation, away from my copy of this book. Now the question is, do I buy another copy in order to read along anyway?

Like

paperback isn’t too expensive. You can always trade it in at the used bookstore when you get home.😉 and if it counts for anything, I bought my copy of Hundred Thousand Kingdoms while I was on vacation.

Very tempting, I loved the Dreamblood Duo. If not, for sure I read it next year.

this IS the book you are looking for. You’ll read it this month

hmm… or that could be the “too much caffeine” voice talking. I’ll still work on tempting you!

There are not the droids we are looking for. Lets move on… Weird. What just happened?

I may join in. It will depend on how much I take on for that guest post and how fast I get through the stuff already on hold at the library. I might just crash the party late.

late party crashers are always welcome at our parties.

I am going to try to read this one. I am not that sure about committing to a read-along. The good ole holidays

no commitment necessary, you know our read alongs are totally mellow.🙂 and yeah, this is a crazy time of year. Join in if/when you can, don’t worry about it if you can’t.

It’s very tempting and I had so much fun doing the Republic of Thieves. I’m not sure I’ll be able to read enough for the first round so I’m a bit scared of committing to it.

Like

luckily, this is a much shorter book than Republic of Thieves! And you don’t have to post for each week, you can just do the last one or two if that works best for your schedule. 🙂

Ok then, sign me up!🙂

I’m totally on board. Probably a little behind because I don’t think I can manage getting the book until December, but I’ve definitely wanted to read this for awhile.

Like

woohoo!! Welcome aboard! I wish we’d announced this earlier, given people more time to get the book. Join in whenever you’re able, we’re very happy to have you!😀

Well, I’m interested but I’m going away for a few days so would definitely miss the first post. I’ll keep my eye on it and see how I get on – you know what it’s like when you can’t rely on the wifi!!

Sign me up!🙂 I haven’t read any of Jemisin’s work and I’ve been wanting to for ages, so perfect excuse!

I’ve been very bad at staying caught up with the past two readalongs I’ve participated in, but put me down. This is one of my favorite books that I read last year, and I’d love to do a re-read. N.K. Jemisin is awesome!

Are you planning on read-along-ing the next two books in the series? I have been meaning to get around to reading them for ages! I don’t think I’ll be able to join the read-along this month, but I have read this one before. I don’t think I can re-read in time, but maybe I can still join in a bit in the comments.🙂

I’m sure if we’ll be doing the rest of the series, but in the meantime you are 100% welcome to join in on the comments!

I’m definitely down for a readalong of the rest of the series if other people are interested. This is one of my favorite fantasy series of all time.

Oh! I want to reread this because I have never read the other books, but I am a bit slow learning about this. I will see what I can do!

some of the books reviewed here were free ARCs supplied by publishers/authors/other groups. Some of the books here I got from the library. the rest I *gasp!* actually paid for. I'll do my best to let you know what's what.
