It’s almost January, and you know what that means!
well, besides THIS of course, January means it’s time for the 2013 Science Fiction Experience over at Stainless Steel Droppings! The SFE runs January and February, and Carl does a beautiful job with artwork and articles and link lists. If you’re not familiar with his blog, get your rear-end over there and check it out. His is THE PLACE when it comes to friendly and in depth discussions of speculative fiction.

Also, on a very slightly related note, is a fascinating experiment happening over at Teresa Frohock‘s blog (Yes! that Theresa Frohock, author of Miserere!). A handful of authors have provided writing samples written under a pseudonym, and your job is to figure out if the sample was written by a man or a woman. Truly, go check this out.
Meanwhile, I have already broken my Vintage Scifi intend-to-read list by reading and listening to stuff that’s not even on there.

Hey I stopped and had a look at the experiment on Teresa Frohock blog. It’s really interesting. I’ve had a go but I’m absolutely terrible – I literally haven’t got a clue. I’ve concluded that I will receive a virtual wooden spoon at the end of the trial! Maybe this isn’t a bad thing. Or maybe I’m just dumb!

That IS an interesting experiment! The past few months I’ve read multiple authors from a variety of genres and I’m positive I can identify the authors. For instance I know Nicholas Sparks by his passive phrases and emotion. John Grisham is easy too because he has an easy writing style. Anyway, I’m on my way over. Thanks for the tip!

Well if you can’t break your own lists, who can, right? 🙂 I think we really need to start both of our events in December because I have so many book reviews I want to post to the review sites already and they theoretically don’t ‘count’ yet! LOL!
Thank you so much for posting about the Experience and for tag-teaming off each other for our events. It is a lot of fun and builds that sense of community that I think is the best reason for doing these things. Appreciate you and look forward to a whole host of vintage SF in the coming month.

I started early this year, in hopes I won’t put myself under so much pressure in January (ha! like that’s gonna work!).
